Can Sahaja Meditation help relieve fear and anxiety?
Sure. The root cause of fear and anxiety can be traced to the weakness in the energy center that resides in the heart. This center is very important because, until the age of twelve, the sternum bone in front of the heart produces antibodies that travel all around the body and protect us from any outside invasions. This energy center informs the antibodies of external threats to our body and tells them how to fight those threats. This center, therefore, is also the center of our sense of security. When this center is balanced, our defense mechanisms are functioning properly. When it's weak or out of balance, we may feel insecure and develop an unwarranted level of fear and anxiety; specifically, excessive fear of external circumstances or events, or fear that other people want to cause us harm.
The weakness or imbalance of this center can have many causes. For example, excessive fear and anxiety could be instilled in the person during childhood by a parent, the person could have experienced a trauma that has not resolved and has left residue in his or her life, or fear and anxiety may have even been deliberately instilled by false gurus who convince the person feel that he or she must pay for past karmas or sins. When the anxious, fearful person perceives a threat or experiences adverse circumstances, the energy center starts pulsating, the heart starts beating faster, and antibodies are produced and put on high alert. In the practice of Sahaja Meditation, the Kundalini inner energy, once awakened, passes through this center, energizes it and, over time, helps strengthen this center and create balance. Thus, the root cause of fear and anxiety is addressed and corrected over time.
